Do an Internet search for the word "architect" and you're likely to find as many references to website design and construction as to building design. That's because the elements of good design are similar whether the media is concrete, steel, and wood, or digital information.

Former architect Kevin Harper, now principal of Nampa web design and hosting firm TopSellerSites.com, has been building the website for the upcoming God and Country Festival (June 28th). Not surprisingly, he finds this kind of design and building equally as engaging.

"I didn't leave my architecture career, I just re-purposed it," he says. "I can take the same design principles and put them to use to help people and organizations like the God and Country Association, Inc. better communicate with the public.

Kevin joined the Festival's advisory board this year after finding a flier in his closet from last year's SonicFlood appearance at the Festival.

After exchanging e-mails and phone calls with Idaho real estate specialist Don Wixom, the association's president and the broker/owner of Nampa's RE/MAX Advantage, he realized that he shared the values and goals of the Festival and was able to contribute his web design and hosting services to help the cause.

"Of course, there is a lot to do. We got this up and running quickly, and were able to include a lot of great features like the history of the Festival, an integrated and interactive blog, a photo album, an Idaho service member memorial page, and even contemporary Christian music news."

But he says this coming year will be used for planning and rolling out an even better site as the board members plan for the 40th anniversary of the event in 2007.

"Now that's an event worth building," Kevin says.
